DILLON'S STORY

Learning that I have near complete control over my health changed my entire life. Before I discovered the truth, I assumed all of our chronic health problems were random or genetic...high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity, type 2 diabetes, autoimmune disease, cancer. While it may be impossible to avoid every single ailment that ever comes our way, it’s surprisingly uncomplicated to prevent, and in many cases reverse, most of the world’s top killers all with an improved diet and lifestyle. Bad luck and genes have very little to do with it.

No, I am not talking about going on a diet; that garbage never works, and it never will. I’m also not talking about adding magic pills or supplements to your daily routine; deficiency is no longer the issue that causes ill health. In fact, virtually all of our chronic illness comes from having too much…too much rich food, processed calories, booze, refined flour products, candy, salt, sugar, oil, caffeine, and my weakness…chips. It turns out if you remove all of the bad stuff, your body will begin healing all on its own. It happened to me, and it's happened to countless others I know in my personal life and through my work with Well Your World.

I removed animal products such as meat, fish, fowl, eggs, and dairy products. I removed added oils, even the “healthy” ones, because they are poisonous, processed calories. I removed refined flour products such as conventional cakes, cookies, pastries, and other packaged food. I dramatically reduced my intake of added salt, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol. What’s left is a lifelong diet of whole, natural foods such as fruit, vegetables like everything you would ever put on a salad, whole starches like potatoes, beans, and whole grains, and some healthy fats such as nuts, seeds, avocado, and minimally processed soy products like edamame, tofu, or tempeh.

Because my forever diet is now centered around these health-promoting whole foods, I must prepare almost all of it myself. And since I prepare all of my own food, I need it to happen very quickly. The last thing I want is to spend all my time in the kitchen, so I developed a style of cooking that allowed me to get in and get out as quickly as possible. I can prepare a simple, wholesome meal much faster than it would take me to go waste my money on something that will harm me.

I don’t rely on recipes; instead, I learned what foods and spices I like the most, and I just throw them together and eat, no measurements needed. And I’ll show you how to do this too! While I do love to entertain guests, even the ones who still eat a standard American diet, I don’t spend much time re-creating healthy versions of old favorites, often called veganizing a dish. I won’t attempt to blow your mind or give you a foodgasm. No, there’s no time for that in our everyday lives. It’s all about throwing a healthy meal together, making it taste good, getting fed, and getting back to life’s much more interesting moments.

At first, the only thing I changed about my lifestyle was the food. I lost 30 pounds, improved my blood pressure and cholesterol, and I feel the best I ever have in my life. I actually began this journey with my mother who also dropped her cholesterol and lost even more weight than I did. Thanks to our example, my dad, already well into his 70s, followed suit as well, lost loads of weight, dropped several medications, and is feeling his best as well. Health is simpler than we think! It’s the food!

I gradually added some basic exercise to my routine and felt even better. I got to bed earlier, ensuring at least 7-8 hours of sleep, and felt better still! I slowly tackled the lifestyle issues that were holding me back from achieving what I knew I was capable of. I know I’m going to die someday just like everybody else, but the difference is that I will feel great along the way and will be wiping my own butt when I finally drop dead peacefully. I will not spend the last 10 years struggling with debility, wishing the end would come. I will spend my life with the people I love, nourishing my body, participating…not observing.

After I restored my own health, I figured everyone would want to hear my message. I told my friends, their friends, my extended family, colleagues, and almost no one wanted to hear a word from me about it. It broke my heart and it was breaking apart my relationships too. I’d spent years seeking this truth, and now that I’d found it, I had no one to share it with. That’s when I decided I needed to find a new outlet…YouTube. I started making videos that allowed other like-minded people to come to me for my message rather than the other way around. I’ve stopped trying to change people, I’ve stopped trying to save the world. Now all I want is to help the people who actually want the answers I discovered. And sure enough, the people wanted it. We created a thriving online community in the Well Your World Facebook Group, and I was liberated at last!

Because of my entrepreneurial brain, I constantly sought ways to save time and bridge the lifestyle gaps. I realized the easiest way we could ever cook would be to throw together some veggies and whole starches and pour on a sauce to give it our favorite flavors. So I came out with my tasty lineup of SOS free sauces and salad dressings…whole food ingredients without the added salt, oil, or sugar found in virtually every packaged food product available on store shelves.
