"My Doctor Calls Me Boring, Mike's Story"

How Mike Lost 45 Pounds and Became Proactively Healthy at 67

Mike started his plant-based journey about 6 or 7 years ago. He began with the Starch Solution and a mix of nutritarian diets, simply wanting to eat better as he aged. He's now 67 years old.

Mike lost 45 pounds and has kept his weight steady at 165 pounds since his diet shift. He's a microgreens grower and sells at local farmers markets in the spring, summer, and fall.

"My doctor calls me boring, and to me that's a good thing!"

A Proactive Approach

Mike's wake-up call wasn't a health crisis. "I was just trying to be pro-active about my health and didn't want to be one of those people on many different meds as I age."

Finding Well Your World

Mike came across Well Your World's videos on YouTube and has been following for quite a few years now. He enjoys cooking and being creative in the kitchen, but he also appreciates the simple approach that WYW offers—making healthy eating accessible without unnecessary complexity.

"I've been using your products for the last few years. I love the Nooch, Veg Broth, Dried Veg, and Date Powder, along with many of the spice blends." He adapted this way of eating without too much difficulty as he embraced the concept of eating as much WFPB as possible.

"WYW products and your approach to simplifying meal prep have become a staple in my kitchen."

Health Improvements: Heading in the Right Direction

Mike's health markers were never terrible, but they were headed in the wrong direction. Since switching to a whole food plant-based diet, his numbers have all improved significantly. His cholesterol dropped below 150 and reached as low as 113. He's happy with his current state of health and credits the food as the key factor in his transformation.

An Active Life at 67

Mike has been able to stay active, spending time gardening, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. Sure, some people poke fun at how he eats, but that's fine with him. "I even have friends who have jumped in and seen similar results with their numbers too," he shares.

A Typical Day: Eating for Variety

Mike tries to include a wide variety of plant foods every day. "It's not difficult at all." His routine includes green smoothies, oatmeal with flax, berries, and usually walnuts. He eats starchy vegetables, beans, whole grains, and leafy greens.

Mike's Advice: Keep It Simple

"Keep it simple and enjoy the ride. Improvements came quickly when you stick with it."
