"Jenn's Journey: Choosing the Path Less Traveled"
From Denial to Discovery - Jenn's Journey to True Joy
"The truth about being healthy runs deep. Deep because it seems we have to really dig to find it. Information that has the power to change the world isn't readily available or provided in the spaces where we expect to find it, like healthcare, schools."
Jenn began digging for health information out of necessity, and what she discovered was life-changing. In December 2021, while searching for a healthier lifestyle, she happened upon Well Your World.
At the time, Jenn was obese with slightly elevated cholesterol and was one point away from entering pre-diabetic level. As she puts it, "Currently, there was nothing wrong with me… yet."
Discovery & The Rocky Beginning
Jenn found herself at a crossroads. One path led toward denial and delusion—it appeared smooth and easy, with no major obstacles ahead. But following that itinerary would lead to high cholesterol, diabetes, and eventually a painful decline in health.
The other path pointed toward change. It was unfamiliar and appeared monumental, but Jenn chose to take it anyway.
The beginning was challenging. Jenn had no idea what to eat or how to prepare plant-based meals. Like many people, she initially thought vegans only ate salads. Well Your World opened her eyes to a world of simple, varied, and delicious recipes that made the transition possible.
But the journey went deeper than learning new cooking skills. Jenn experienced heartbreak for the animals and the trauma they endured, feeling remorse for her part in it. She was devastated by the information that remains hidden and angry that society seems content to ignore what happens behind closed doors. She went through a period of trauma, depression, and sadness before managing to emerge on the other side.
The Transformation Begins
Soon, Jenn started feeling the benefits of her new lifestyle. Her energy returned—energy she hadn't felt since 9th grade. She began sleeping soundly through the night and actually wanted to get out of bed in the morning.
Excited to share her experience, Jenn told everyone she knew. But no one wanted to hear it. She realized she had been in their position not long ago and was flabbergasted by their desire to remain ignorant and avoid change.
This realization led Jenn down a difficult path. She became consumed by anger and judgment, getting lost in disappointment that nobody wanted to listen. She took personal offense at their resistance to change.
When she reached out to someone she admired for advice, the response was simple: "Sometimes you just need to sit in your silence." Though initially puzzling, this became the best advice Jenn ever received. Sitting in silence helped her realize she had work to do on herself.
The Vanity Detour
Then came what Jenn calls "the party bus" phase. Her BMI had dropped from 29.3 to 19.4. Her daughter graduated from college, leaving her with extra money. She went clothes shopping, got Botox, bought hair extensions, and indulged in other cosmetic enhancements.
After spending about a year focused on vanity, something shifted. The person inside her—the one growing a garden of true joy—told her to slow down and take a different path. She needed to work on the soil, the foundation of real growth.
Finding the Present
Jenn discovered a path that led to a magnificent view: the present moment. She embraced her body and face as they naturally age. She had the hair extensions removed, the gel nail polish drilled off, and returned to her natural hair color with a pixie cut.
Now, Jenn can be found working on her mind through silence and meditation, keeping her diet and lifestyle fresh, and continuing to tend to the soil of her soul.
"Thank you, Reebs and Dillon," she says. "I am solo on this journey, but not alone, thanks to you."
